Position: Assistant Coach (School Bus Driver, Primary)

Reports To: Assistant Principal 

Salary:  State salary schedule, plus local supplement

Benefits: Teachers’ and State Employees’ Retirement System (TSERS) and NC State Health Plan

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Employment Term:  10 months

Northeast Academy for Aerospace and Advanced Technologies is a public regional STEM school serving middle and high school students. Position Purpose 

Under general supervision, the Assistant Coach operates a school bus on assigned route(s) and schedule to provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the programs and offerings of the school. Work involves performing pre-and post-trip inspections of the bus; operating a bus; obeying all traffic laws and regulations while operating the bus; observing all school policies regarding attendance, safety, and school bus operations; and maintaining discipline of students assigned to ride the bus. The Assistant Coach is also responsible for completing all required reports and securing the assigned bus before leaving the vehicle at the conclusion of a route. He/she must exercise tact and courtesy in maintaining acceptable relations with parents/guardians of students transported and with school personnel. The Assistant Coach also performs a variety of other duties to support effective and efficient school operations.

Work in this classification is considered medium physical work requiring the exertion of 50

pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of

force constantly to move objects.
